We celebrate the sacrament of communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Our welcoming church family follows the pattern of the Reformed Church in America liturgy. We encourage members to actively participate in worship through reading scripture, singing in the choir, and leading prayer.
Our healing service is held on the fourth Sunday of the month. The elders of the church anoint oil on those who wish to participate in this act of faith.
Sunday School is at 9:00 am in the education building.
Our Sunday school is a one room classroom format for children ages 3 and up.
Bible Study is at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays in the education building.
Open to adults looking to study books of the Bible together, deepen their knowledge of scripture, and grow in their faith.
As a Scripture-based church we will love and honor Jesus Christ by sharing the Good News with our community.
The Ellenville Reformed Church has very deep roots in our
community. It was an off shoot of the Wawarsing Dutch
Reformed Church that was founded in 1745. As people
moved farther south and the village of Ellenville was
formed, there was a need for a closer church. Under the
sponsorship of the Wawarsing Church a new building was
erected on Main Street in Ellenville in 1826.
On August 18, 1840 the Reformed Protestant Dutch
Church was organized and separated from the Wawarsing
Church. Twenty-four members were inducted into the
newly formed church.
In 1852 the present building was erected on Canal Street
and the original building was sold to the Catholic Church.
In 1931 a new pipe organ was added to the sanctuary and
in 1966 a Christian Education Center was built adjoining
the church.
We have occupied this building and continuously
worshipped in this sanctuary for close to 175 years.
Our congregations have been led by 26 pastors and we
continue to do the Lord’s work in our community and
around the world.
For the last 35 years, Ellenville Reformed Church
has supported RCA missionaries in Africa both
prayerfully and monetarily. When they are home
on assignment, we are able to worship with them
either in person or via Zoom to learn more about
their experiences.
We buy and pack bags filled with hygiene items
for distribution at the food pantry of the United
Methodist Church in Ellenville. The bags include
full-sized shampoo, bar soap, toothpaste,
toothbrush, deodorant, pair of socks, and a
washcloth. Ellenville Reformed Church donates
100 bags every other month to be distributed at
the food pantry.
Members receive baby bottles to be filled with
bills and loose change. The bottles are then
returned to the Kingston office where the money
is able to help women and children in need.
Members donate money to help the Ellenville
NAACP buy backpacks and school supplies for
the children in the Ellenville School District.
Partner with WRC by donating clothing items to
be sent to Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
Any person experiencing a tragic event such as a
fire, can come to the Thrift Shop and receive
clothing and household items free of charge.
The Thrift Shop opened from the inspiration of a past church member, Kate VanEtten.
We are open
Wednesday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Thursday 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
